Significance & Use

This test method is used to evaluate the potential strength of sub‑grade, sub‑base, and base course material, including recycled materials for use in road and airfield pavements. The CBR value obtained in this test forms an integral part of several flexible pavement design methods.

Salient Features

1. Electronic Unit with Microprocessor based control and Digital Display.
2. Comprises a twin column frame incorporating a motorized drive system.
3. Electronic, Load Transducers and Displacement Transducers in conjunction with the EIE ‑ Electronic Control and Readout Unit (Software at extra cost ‑ Refer to optional accessories)
4. Two speed machine (1.0mm/min for BS standard and 1.27mm/min for ASTM Standard)
5. Rapid platen adjustment
6. Rapid adjustment of the platen is provided, which enables daylight to be taken up quickly and also close control of application of a seating load

Supplied Complete with following accessories and parts

1. Load frame, Motorized 5000 Kg (50 KN) capacity, With two rate of travel (1.0 & 1.27mm/min)
2. C.B.R. Mould, 152 mm diameter x 127 mm high with extension collar & perforated base plate. Made of Mild steel.
3. Penetration Piston, face diameter (49.63  ± 0.13) mm with adjustable bracket and not less than 4 inch (101.6 mm)  long
4. Penetration dial gauge ‑ [1 inch travel (25 mm) x 0.0005 in (0.001 mm) divisions]. Complete with rack extensions and chisel edge anvil.
5. Perforated base plate to fit with CBR Mould
6. Solid base/Top plate to fit with CBR Mould
7. C-Spanner to mount or unmount the collar from mould body - 02 Nos
8. Base tool to remove or mount the perforated base plate/solid bade plate to the mould body
9. Metal tripod stand (Swell tripod) for dial gauges.
10. Displacer block, (Compaction plug) (150 mm) x (50 mm) high. Plated steel with detachable handle.

Salient Features of Digital Readout Facility

1. Indication for penetration & load simultaneously.
2. Digital display of load value at required penetration value as per ASTM Standard.
3. No need to observe the dial gauge separately
4. Facility to read rate of loading in mm/minute.
5. Tare system to nullify initial load
6. Penetration range 50.00 mm by linear potentiometer.
7. Load range upto 5000 kg with load transducer.
8. Penetration & corresponding load value highlights for  0.50, 1.00, 1.50, 2.00,  2.50,  3.00,  4.00, 5.00,  7.50, 10.00 and 12.50 mm penetration.
9. The digital LCD display will retain the peak value until it is cleared.
10. With start & stop button facility.
11. Auto stop at 15.00 mm penetration.
