KIT FOR ESTIMATION OF ORGANIC IMPURITIES IN FINE AGGREGATES

The estimation of organic impurities in fine aggregates is critical since such impurities can adversely affect the properties of concrete. The test determines the presence of organic materials, mainly by colorimetric comparison of a solution of fine aggregate with a reference color standard.

Details

The kit consist of glass bottle (6 Nos.) of 350 ml capacity, colorless glass graduated bottles equipped with watertight stoppers, not soluble in specified reagents. Gradation marks at


  1. Reference color solution level : 75 ml
  2. Sand/Fine aggregate level : 125 ml
  3. Sodium hydroxide solution level : 200 ml


The kit contains chemicals as per following 

  1. Sodium hydroxide - AR grade (2.50 grams), 
  2. Tannic acid powder - AR grade (100 grams)
  3. MOLYSOL`E`AR - 500 GM
  4. Alcohol 100 ml, 
  5. Distilled water - 1000 ml
