ASPHALT RECOVERY APPARATUS-BY ABSON METHOD-ASTM D1856

Model Number : EIE-BT-109

The Abson Method is designed to recover asphalt from bituminous paving mixtures for further testing without altering its original properties. The recovered asphalt can be tested for properties like penetration, ductility, and viscosity Compliance Standards : ASTM D1856, AASHTO T170, AASHTO R59, EN 12697-3, BS 598-102. Also known as ABSON Method.

Compliance Standards:

ASTM D1856, AASHTO T170, AASHTO R59

Used for recovering the asphalt (bitumen) from a solution of a previous extraction. The asphalt is recovered with properties substantially the same as those it possessed in the bituminous mixture and in quantities sufficient for further testing.

The apparatus consists of a distillation assembly including:

  1. Extraction flasks
  2. Glass tubing
  3. Inlet aeration tube
  4. Electric heating mantle
  5. Water-Jacketed condenser
