1. ASTM D5 measures the consistency of bituminous materials by the penetration of a needle, useful for applications such as road construction and roofing.
2. ASTM D217 measures the consistency of lubricating greases by the penetration of a cone, important for ensuring the right grease consistency for machinery lubrication.
3. ASTM D937 measures the consistency of petrolatum by the penetration of a cone, providing important data for its use in products like ointments and lubricants.
4. ASTM D1321 measures the hardness of waxes by the penetration of a needle, crucial for applications in candles, coatings, and packaging materials.
