Introduction :
This apparatus is designed to introduce students to three basic types of flow meters.
- Venturi meter
- Rotameter or Variable area meter
- Orifice meter
- Nozzle Meter (Optional)
Flow meter is a device that measures the rate of flow or quantity of a moving fluid in an open or closed conduit. The measurement of water flow rate is an important topic in the study of fluid dynamics.
Construction Details :
A flow control valve permits variation of flow rate through the circuit. Pressure tapings are incorporated so that the head loss characteristics of each flow meter may be measured. These tapings are connected to a differential manometer. The circuit and manometer are attached to a support framework. The complete unit comprises of a test bench with sump tank & measuring tank. The exterior body of the unit is powder coated in attractive shades. The Venturi meter, Rota meter and the orifice plate are installed in a parallel configuration to permit direct comparison of fluid flow.
