Set‑up and construction details :
The Apparatus will consist of a closed circuit through which, water is circulated continuously by means of a centrifugal pump of 50 mm x 40 mm with 1 HP.3 phase motor to make the supply from sump tank.
A sump tank 100 cm x 100 cm x 100 cm fabricated in S. S. angle frame with S.S Sheet is provided. A drain valve 50 mm will be provided in the bottom of the tank.
The set‑up will consist of a tilting flume 200 mm wide, 300 mm deep and 2500 mm long with a stabilizing tank about 500 mm long, 500 mm wide and 500 mm deep. Total length of flume is about 3 meter for visual observation of flow pattern along the flume section. Both sides of the flume will be provided with transparent Perspex sheet about 800 mm long. The inlet section will be provided with 2 nos. of baffles for streamline flow. The upstream and downstream sections will be provided with adjustable gates with rack and pinion arrangement. The instrument will be accompanied with the following accessories
The channel will be provided with pipe lining in full length between the gates for the movement of pointer gauge trolley. A pointer gauge is provided to measure the head of water over the model. The trolley is supported on four wheels for easy running of the railing. The channel on its one end having screw mechanical jack and hinged at the other end to give a slope of 1 to 2 % in upstream and downstream.
Discharge of water can be collected by the help of calibrated Venturimeter / Orifice meter. A ‘U’ tube manometer is provided to find out the pressure difference on the Venturimeter. Necessary piping system and flexible pipe of suitable size, necessary fitting and control valve are provided with the apparatus.
