Applications:
Used for determining the breaking point of solid and semi-solid bitumen. The Fraas Breaking Point is the temperature at which bitumen first becomes brittle, as indicated by the appearance of cracks when a thin-film of the bitumen on a metal plaque is cooled and flexed in accordance with specified conditions.
Apparatus Details:
Consists of following parts and accessories
- 3 nos disposable plaque metal plate,
- 2 nos test tube,
- 1 no glass cylinder with base,
- 3 nos silicon rubber cork
- 1 no bending apparatus
- 1 no Funnel for introducing the dry ice
- 1 thermometer (IP-42C) (-38°C to + 30°C), subdivisions 0.5°C

- Hot plate 20 cm dia
- Calcium chloride
- Acetone
- Weighing balance with an accuracy of 0.01 gm or more
- Dry ice making machine
- Co2 cylinder for dry ices
- Additional plaque metal plate
