General Description: The equipment is designed to measure the abrasion resistance of paver blocks as per the procedures outlined in IS 15658:2006. The apparatus will ensure uniformity in testing, accurate measurement, and reliable results
Test Method:
The equipment will comply with the following method:
As per IS 1237:2012 for abrasion testing, which is suitable for testing the abrasion resistance of concrete paver blocks.
Machine Type: The machine will be a robust, heavy-duty floor model capable of performing the abrasion resistance test with precision.
Grinding Disc: A rotating grinding disc with a diameter of approximately 750 mm, made of cast iron or another durable material, with a smooth surface to ensure uniform abrasion of the test samples.
Abrasive Material: The machine will use standard abrasive material as specified in IS 1237:2012, generally a mixture of abrasive powder (e.g., corundum) and water.
Test Load: The machine will allow the application of a vertical load of 294 ± 3 N (30 ± 0.3 kg) through a lever system or another suitable method.
Sample Holder:
Sample Size: The machine will accommodate paver blocks or specimen dimensions as specified in IS 15658:2006.
Fixation: The machine will have a secure holder or clamp to hold the sample in place during the test, ensuring no movement of the sample
Rotation and Speed:
Disc Rotation Speed: The machine will operate at a speed of 30 to 33 revolutions per minute (rpm) to simulate the abrasion effect.
Revolutions Counter: The machine will have a counter to record the number of revolutions during the test. It will automatically stop after completing the required number of revolutions (typically 22 rotations).
Control System:
• Control Panel: A control panel with a start/stop button, speed controller, and an emergency stop button for safe operation.
• Timer: A digital timer to set and monitor the test duration, which can be adjusted as per the testing requirements.
Power Supply:
Power Requirements: The machine will operate on a standard electrical power supply (e.g., 220-240V, 50Hz) with an appropriate power rating.
