OIL SEPARATION FROM LUBRICATING GREASE AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE (ASTM D6184, FTM 791-321)

OIL SEPARATION FROM LUBRICATING GREASE AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE (ASTM D6184, FTM 791-321)

Model Number : EIE-PTGT-136

Complies with following International Standards:

ASTM D6184, FTM 791-321

Purpose

To determine the tendency of lubricating grease to separate oil during storage or use at elevated temperatures. Excessive oil separation may result in inconsistent lubrication, formation of hard residues, or failure in application.

Principle of test

The grease is placed in a conical metal sieve located above a beaker in a sealed container. The container is heated to an elevated temperature (typically 100°C) for a specified duration (24 hours). The oil that separates from the grease and collects in the beaker is measured and reported as a percentage of the original sample mass.

Details of the apparatus

Conical sieve apparatus (as per standard design)

  1. Stainless steel cone with perforated bottom (0.149 mm sieve openings)

Collection beaker (to catch separated oil)

Sealed test cell or container (to prevent evaporation)

Note:

End user needs to arrange hot air oven and Electronic Weighing balance to carry out the experiment. Or one can buy from us directly. Refer to the optional accessories.
