ASH DETERMINATION TEST APPARATUS - COMPLETE SET - (ASTM D482)

Complete assembly consists of Muffle furnace, evaporating dish and Furnace tong.

Significance & Use:

1. This test method covers the determination of ash in the range 0.001- 0.180 mass %, from distillate and residual fuels, gas turbine fuels, crude oils, lubricating oils, waxes, and other petroleum products, in which any ash-forming materials present are normally considered to be undesirable impurities or contaminants. The test method is limited to petroleum products which are free from added ash-forming additives, including certain phosphorus compounds.

Following Apparatus will be provided to carry out the test:

1)  Muffle Furnace Horizontal, front loading type:

1. In this improved model, ceramic fiber wool insulation (instead of brick insulation) has been provided resulting in weight and size reduction of furnace. The weight and size of the furnace is 1/4 and 30% less respectively as compared to brick furnace. The heat up time is less. Heat loss is very low-resulting in power saving.

Vent Port:

1. Built in vent port for removal of non oxious gases etc. preferably with a provision of connecting the extension pipe with vent lid should be air tight for Volatile Matter analysis.

Calibration port (If required by indenter)

1. Provision of hole with cover will be provided in the furnace door for putting temperature sensor for calibration of equipment

Safety Features:

1. Thermocouple breaks protection to cut power to the heating element in order to prevent thermocouple failure runway condition.
2. Safety switch to cut of the power in case of door is open
3. Hour Meter to indicate actual working hours of Heating Elements 

2)  Evaporating Dish or Crucible:

1. 50 to 100-ml for samples containing more than 0.02 mass % sulfated ash, or 120 to 150-ml for samples containing less than 0.02 mass % sulfated ash
