Application

This apparatus is used for determinations of distillation characteristics of petroleum products.


Construction Details

The basic components of the distillation unit are the distillation flask, the condenser and associated manual cooling bath, a metal shield or enclosure for the distillation flask, the heat source, the flask support, the temperature measuring device, and the receiving cylinder to collect the distillate.


1) Distillation Flask (2 Nos.)

  1. Made with heat resistant borosilicate glass material
  2. Volume : 125 ml capacity
  3. Dimensions as per ASTM D86
  4. supplied with Teflon cork or silicon rubber cork


2) Condenser and associated cooling bath (Non‑refrigerated)

  1. Non‑ Refrigerated cooling tank
  2. Double walled construction
  3. Cooling tank is made of stainless steel - S.S.304
  4. Exterior of the cooling tank is incorporated with drainage or overflow system.
  5. Condenser is also made of stainless steel material
  6. Condenser is having seamless non‑corrosive tubing for connection to cooling medium
  7. Length of condenser tubing : 560 ± 5mm
  8. Outside diameter of condenser tubing :14mm
  9. Wall thickness of condenser tubing : 0.8 ‑ 0.9 mm
  10. The dimensions, position & angle of the tubing & condenser bath will strictly abide to ASTM D86 standard. 

Note

Client will need to procure external chiller or shall arrange on his own to conduct the experiment.


3) Heat source

  1. Electric heater
  2. Supplied with temperature energy regulator 
  3. Power supply : 230 Volt AC, 50 Hz, Single Phase, AC Supply


4) Metal shield or enclosure

  1. To support distillation flask with GEARED HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT DEVICE.
  2. Shield is made of mild steel material
  3. Powder coated in attractive shades with locking arrangement,
  4. It has a slot for vapor tube.
  5. A glass windows is provided in front side for clear view of inside objects.
  6. Supplied with mains switch and indicator lamp


5) Flask support

  1. Adjustable flask support
  2. Platform made of ceramic heat resistant material with a central opening 38 to 50 mm in diameter.


6) Receiving flask (2 Nos.)

  1. Made of borosilicate glass material
  2. Volume : 100 ml capacity
  3. Graduation : At every 1 ml intervals


7) Glass thermometers

IP ‑ 5C and IP ‑ 6C Thermometers will be supplied with Calibration certificate, traceable to National Standard.
