The sand equivalent test provides insight into the cleanliness and quality of fine aggregates. The sample is typically prepared by removing larger particles and then mixing with a solution to create a suspension. The suspension is shaken to distribute the fine particles uniformly throughout the solution. A mechanical shaker is recommended for consistent, repeatable and time-efficient results. Application:

EIE Sand Equivalent Mechanical Shaker is recommended for labs performing sand equivalent tests on a regular basis.


Description of Test:

  1. Mechanical motor driven shaker for use when performing sand equivalent tests. Synchronous gear drive assures 175 (± 2) stroke per minute accuracy, eliminating errors inherent in hand shaking. Direct drive means no belts to replace and less maintenance between tests.
  2. The Shaker has a throw of 200mm ± 1 mm
  3. Supplied with accurate electronic timer preset at 45 seconds as per test requirements.
  4. The instrument will be stopped automatically at the end of test time interval.
  5. Electric motor of the instrument will be of reputed make such as GE Motor/Marathon/ Crompton Greaves
  6. The gear and motor mechanism will be housed in a sturdy enclosure.
  7. Test cylinder is held securely by base pin and spring‑loaded holder on stopper end.
  8. Exterior body of the machine will be made from Mild Steel material, which is powder coated in attractive shades.
