ROCK SHEAR TEST APPARATUS

ROCK SHEAR BOX APPARATUS

The direct shear test assesses the shear strength parameters of rock under various normal stresses. It provides data on the cohesion and internal friction angle of the rock, essential for understanding rock behavior under different loading conditions.

This apparatus is designed for determining the strength and slope stability of rock samples with a maximum size of 115 x 125 mm or core samples up to Ø 102 mm. Suitable for use both in the field and in laboratory settings, it includes:

  1. Dual Horizontal Rams: Enables shear testing in two directions.
  2. Vertical Loading Ram: Provides controlled vertical load application.
  3. Load Gauges: Equipped with two 150 mm diameter Bourdon tube load gauges, calibrated for 50 kN with 1 kN divisions, and featuring quick-release couplings for ease of setup.
  4. Hydraulic Hand Pumps: Includes two hand pumps with hydraulic connections for precise load application.
  5. Precision Dial Gauge: Offers 25 mm measurement range with 0.01 mm resolution for accurate displacement readings.
