Significance & Use

Cone penetration test results provide one measure of the consistency of Grease. With the help of the grease worker, the worked penetration results are determined. These worked penetration results are required to determine to which NLGI Consistency grade a grease belongs. Undisturbed penetration results provide means of evaluating the effect of storage conditions on grease consistency.

Apparatus descriptions                         

• Motorized grease working machine with Single Cup for short duration "worked penetration tests" on lubricating greases.
• Consists of one steel ASTM grease worker with drive motor mounted on a sturdy steel base.
• Spring loaded tightening clamps hold grease worker securely on base
• A grease working assembly comprises a heavy duty grease pot with screw lid.
• A plunger passes through the lid and is attached to a perforated metal Worker Plate.
• A large bore grease‑cock allows excess air/grease to escape during assembly and insertion of a thermometer
• The plungers is driven by a geared electric motor at 60 ± 10 strokes per minute.
• An automatic counter will stop the motor after a pre‑set number of strokes up to a maximum of 999,999.
• The safety guard incorporates a motor cut‑off switch.
• Equipped with a presetting electronic counter
• Threaded cup and cover
• Base plate is drilled at corners to allow for bolting to table top.
• Operates on 230 Volt, 50 Hz, Single Phase, AC Supply
