Details

The Penetrometer is so designed that it permits the specified cone to drop vertically at least 40 mm and indicates accurately the depth of Penetration to nearest 0.1 mm. The Penetrometer has a platform to accommodate the test sample which can be adjusted horizontally before making the test and a mechanism for releasing the clamp of the loaded cone. The Cone is made of brass with detachable hardened steel tip, constructed to conform to the dimensions and tolerances shown in Fig. 1 of IS : 4887. The total weight of the cone and its movable attachments will be 150.0 ± 0. 1 g. The attachments consist of a rigid shaft having a suitable device at its lower end for engaging the cone. The outer surface is polished to a very smooth finish. Supplied with 1 No. each Cone, sample container and weight. Hand operated (Automatic version also available )
